Is it safe to give AI access to company data?

Short answer: It can be, with the right controls. Give the AI access only to the data a task needs, use business plans whose terms say your data is not used to train models, keep logs, and require a human to approve risky actions. Watch for known risks such as prompt injection, where hidden text in a document tricks the AI.

Useful frameworks

The OWASP Top 10 for LLM applications lists common AI security risks, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework offers a structured way to manage them.

Questions

Is n8n secure for business use?

n8n can be used securely, but how secure it is depends on how it is set up. On n8n Cloud the vendor runs the servers; when self-hosted, you are responsible for updates, HTTPS, logins, backups and protecting stored credentials. Follow the security guidance in the n8n docs and give each workflow only the access it needs.
