**AI agent news in November 2026, in short:** OpenAI will shut down Agent Builder on November 30, 2026, and n8n released the 3.0 beta on October 27, with the stable release planned for early December. Both need action from you if you use them. For everything that happened in October, read the [October long read](/blog/trending-ai-agents-tools-october-2026/).

We are keeping this page to two items on purpose. We did not find other November announcements in the official sources we check, so we are not padding it.

## 1. OpenAI Agent Builder shuts down on November 30

OpenAI announced on June 3, 2026 that Agent Builder is scheduled to shut down on November 30, 2026 ([OpenAI deprecations](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/deprecations)). The AgentKit announcement page also carries an update dated June 3, 2026 ([OpenAI: Introducing AgentKit](https://openai.com/index/introducing-agentkit/)). From today, that leaves 29 days.

**What stays:** ChatKit remains available ([OpenAI deprecations](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/deprecations)).

**Where to go:** OpenAI's migration guide names two paths. Use the Agents SDK if you want code, or ChatGPT Workspace Agents if you want to build in natural language ([Migrate from Agent Builder](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/agent-builder/migrate-from-agent-builder)). You can export a workflow as Agents SDK code, but the guide says the result is not a perfect 1:1 conversion of your graph ([Migrate from Agent Builder](https://developers.openai.com/api/docs/guides/agent-builder/migrate-from-agent-builder)).

**This week:** list every workflow built in Agent Builder, note who owns it, and pick one of the two paths for each. Our full walkthrough is in the [Agent Builder migration guide](/blog/openai-agent-builder-sunset-migration-guide/).

## 2. n8n 3.0: beta now, stable in early December

n8n released version 3.0.0 beta on October 27, 2026, and says the stable release follows in early December ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/)). This release is about reliability, stability and security, and it contains breaking changes ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/), [breaking changes docs](https://docs.n8n.io/changelog/v30-breaking-changes)).

Three facts that decide your plan:

- **The upgrade is one way.** There is no going back to 2.x, so take a full backup first ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/)).
- **Self-hosted n8n now needs Docker.** Installing with npm or npx is no longer supported ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/)).
- **Old nodes are gone.** Function, Function Item, Item Lists, Cron, Interval and the legacy OpenAI node are removed, among others ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/)).

Instances on 2.39 or later have a Migration Report under Settings > Migration Report that lists affected workflows ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/)). If you are still on 1.x, upgrade to 2.x first; support for 1.x ends on December 31, 2026 ([n8n blog](https://blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/)).

**This week:** update to the latest 2.x, open the Migration Report, and fix or mark "won't fix" everything it flags. The step-by-step version is in our [n8n 3.0 migration guide](/blog/n8n-3-migration-guide/), and the short version is at [what changes in n8n 3](/answers/what-changes-in-n8n-3/).

## FAQ

Two dated changes matter this month. OpenAI scheduled Agent Builder to shut down on November 30, 2026 (developers.openai.com/api/docs/deprecations). n8n released 3.0.0 beta on October 27, 2026, with the stable 3.x release planned for early December (blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/).

**When does OpenAI Agent Builder shut down?**
November 30, 2026. OpenAI announced it on June 3, 2026, and says ChatKit remains available (developers.openai.com/api/docs/deprecations).

**When is the stable release of n8n 3.0?**
n8n says early December 2026. The 3.0.0 beta has been available since October 27, 2026 (blog.n8n.io/introducing-n8n-v3/). No exact stable date is published in the sources we used.

**Do I need to act on both this month?**
Only if you use them. If you built anything in Agent Builder, plan the move before November 30. If you self-host n8n, open the Migration Report now so the early December stable release does not catch you unprepared.

**Where is the October news?**
Earlier October news is covered in the October long read at /blog/trending-ai-agents-tools-october-2026/. This November page covers only the two changes above.
